Episode 6 - Will A Sense of Purpose Diminish Loneliness?

Can purpose actually make loneliness hurt less?

A big question, but yes, perhaps not in the way you assume.

As psychologists split loneliness into two categories: being alone, and feeling alone — and purpose mostly changes the second one. Frankl's work is founded on this — he discovered that people could continue regardless of the situation, if they had a "why" underneath it.

And psychologists talk about three core needs — autonomy, competence, and connection — and chasing your purpose leads you to connection. By trying new things, reinventing yourself and doing projects that fuel your passions and lead you to the place that changes how you feel.

Loneliness is real. Many people struggle with this distressing emotion. Do you think anything can prevent this from overtaking you?

In this episode, I talk about loneliness and whether having a sense of purpose helps.
